JKSSB aspirants protest, demand postponement of exam in Srinagar, Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Kargil, Nov 7: A protest demonstration was held by hundreds of youth in the border town of Kargil in Ladakh region, demanding postponement of Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) examination scheduled to be held tomorrow in the twin capital cities of the state following closure of Leh-Srinagar national highway due accumulation of snow and slippery road conditions. Over 300 JKSSRB aspirants took to the streets and blocked the traffic in the main market in Kargil this afternoon. Shouting anti-administration slogans, the protestors cited closure of the national highway, which connects Ladakh region with the rest of the state, and demanded the postponement of JKSSB examination which is scheduled to be held in Srinagar and Jammmu tomorrow. The protestors alleged that the district administration has failed to convince the JKSSRB chairman to postpone the examination to be conducted by the recruitment body following closure of the nation highway. Despite all the efforts of the aspirants, the district administration, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil, MLA and MLC did not feel it necessary to make any genuine efforts to provide air facilities to the stranded aspirants nor did they try to request the Chairman JKSSRB to provide an examination centre at Leh or Kargil, the protestors alleged. |
