Jammu trader duped of Rs 70,000 in lieu of 'fulgurite', four held | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 14 : Police have claimed to have arrested four persons following a complaint from a Nanak Nagar based businessman for being duped of Rs 70 000 by the seven persons hailing from district Ganderbal, Srinagar in lieu of selling 'fulgurite'- a rare metal formed during lightning. "The arrested accused have been identified namely as Fyaz Ahmed, Abdul Rashid, Farooq Ahmed and Shabeer Ahmed hailing from Kashmir," police sources said. According to police sources, the complainant Sukhdev Singh, lodged a complaint with Nagrota police alleging therein that he was duped of Rs 70,000 by Sriangar based seven persons presently residing in Sidhra. "They duped him in lieu of selling a rare and costly celestial metal i.e. fulgurite/fulgurate which is formed when lightening strikes on earth and in this connection a deal was stuck between two sides and Rs 70,000 was paid as advance, Police sources said quoting complainant. "Complainant stated that instead of rare metal they (swindlers) gave him an ordinary stone," they added. "Taking swift action the Nagrota Police conducted raid and arrested four persons while massive hunt is on to arrest the absconding accused so that they might make another gullible person victim of their treachery," sources said. They added the accused have been put on sustained questioning to get lead in this regard and the role of the persons involved in this racket. A case stands registered in this regard and further investigations are on. |
