Attachment of influential doctors cause problems, admits MOS health | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report srinagar, Nov 14: Admitting that the attachment of the influential doctors have caused grave problems to the patients, the Minister of State for Health Asiya Naqash on Saturday said that scores of doctors have been unnecessarily attached with the Directorate offices. "The hospital of the state suffers due to the unnecessary attachments of blue eyed influential doctors. Some senior doctors have managed their choice postings. There should be a comprehensive transfer policy for the doctors," Asiya Naqash told Early Times over phone. She said that there are hundreds of doctors who have been attached with the Directorate offices. "I have reports that some blue eyed doctors enjoy the privilege of prize postings in and around Srinagar city or to their places of convenience for decades. I must say that this transfer system in health department has taken toll on patients," she said. The minister also told Early Times that the government may also consider ban on the private practice of the government doctors. "Most of the doctors and HOD's are doing the private practices which have caused the problems to the patients. They came late and leaver early from the hospitals in order to attend their private clinics. Now we are considering the ban on their practices and after the ban if any doctor will be found engaged in private practice, he or she would be dismissed," the minister warned. The Minister said measures have also been taken to ensure improvement in the health sector from state to district level. "A special committee would also be formed to monitor developments in the health sector, she added. |
