JTC holds meet, discusses migrants' issues | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 14: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee was held here today under the chairmanship of Shadi Lal Pandita, president of the Committee. The meeting was attended by the office bearers and members of the committee. During the course of meeting various problems being faced by Kashmiri Pandit migrant community were discussed in detail. Pandita while speaking in the meeting said that the present coalition government of PDP and BJP has totally failed in mitigating the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandit migrant community putting up in camps as well as non camps and rented accommodation and the Government has been giving step motherly treatment to this community by ignoring them. Pandita has said that the Migrant Pandit community is well interested in their permanent rehabilitation in Kashmir valley in a satellite township for their dignified and peaceful living. Pandita has demanded compensation of Rs 2 lacs yearly for each migrant family for the damages/ losses suffered by them due to damages to their properties in Kashmir valley during past 26 years of migration. Pandita has demanded that the Government of J&K Should ensure removal of the encroachments from the properties of the Kashmir Pandit migrants in Kashmir valley as well as the properties of religious places and shrines. A demand has also been made for filling the remaining posts under Prime Minister's employment package announced during the year 2008.
