JMC cleanliness drive continues | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 14 : On the 3rd day of ongoing weeklong cleanliness drive being conducted by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), a programme was organized at ward no 71 comprising Sidhra, Tawi Vihar Colony and Asarabad and adjoining areas. The drive was launched on the directions of JMC Commissioner Jammu Mandeep Kaur. The campaign was led by R S Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (Adm), Dr Zaffar Iqbal Municipal Veterinary Officer, Talat Mahmood CTO, Sanitation Officer, Asstt Sanitation Officers and other field staff of JMC along with men and machinery. The basic objective of the drive is to ensure cleanliness of roads, lanes, bye lanes by sweeping & de-silting in every nook and corner. During this drive large number of residents of area participated. To make this campaign effective at ground level and to enlist the public cooperation for making the areas clean, the people of various walks of society living there were invited to participate in the drive & large number of people participated with dedication. MLA Davinder Rana, prominent citizens and social workers were present during the drive. Besides, this Municipal Commissioner, Mandeep Kaur visited the Municipal Animal Care Centre, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Roop Nagar along with Municipal Veterinary Officer and other animal lovers were also present to review the ongoing constructional work of 36 more kennels for stray dogs and sheds for sick and injured animals. |
