Medico assaulted, medical fraternity demands early action | | | Early Times Report Bhaderwah, Nov 14: A doctor this evening was assaulted by trader running a chemist shop near SDH Bhaderwah when doctor was on his way to Hospital. Meantime the medico fraternity demanding acting against accused has threatened stir if police fails to do so. According to sources, "The doctor was intercepted by the assailant and was manhandled while the former was on his way to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bhaderwah." Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bhaderwah Dr Ravinder confirming the incident said, "The injured doctor is identified as Dr Mudasir Iqbal presently posted at SDH Bhaderwah and later was shifted to Govt Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialized treatment for his head injury received in the assault. "We have lodged a written complaint to SHO Bhaderwah but when last report came in no FIR was registered," BMO said. Commenting on today's incident, Dr Ravinder said that medicos in Bhaderwah are not safe as people now and then target them on petty issues for their (medicos) no fault. He also warned if no action is taken against the accused they (medical fraternity) will be left with no option but to adopt agitational path and medical fraternity will proceed on mass leave from SDH Bhaderwah in protest. Meanwhile various social, political and religious organisations have condemned assault on doctor and have demanded immediate action in this regard to discourage such elements. |
