HM ultra involved in 'civilian killings' held | | | Early Times Report Anantnag, Nov 14: Police in a joint operation today claimed to have arrested a militant associated with Hizb-ul-Mujhadeen (HM) allegedly involved in killing two civilians in South Kashmir during last year. "The arrested ultra has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar @ Hafiz son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Pahnou, Shopian," police spokesperson said here today. Police spokesperson in an official communiqué said, "Following specific information, Anantnag police and 1RR (Rashtriya Rifles) arrested the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant from Qazigund area of the district. However, spokesman didn't reveal the date of detention of arrested militant. "During the investigation it came to fore that he alongwith two other militants killed Javid Ahmad Sofi @ Javid Waza son of Mohammed Ismail resident of Bijbehara and Reyaz Ahmad Khan son of Ali Mohammad Khan resident of Karawa Malnoo, Shopian, he added. "As per disclosures made by the arrested ultra, Javaid was killed by militants on 22/03/2015 at New Colony Bijbehara while as Riyaz Ahmad Khan 25/10/2014, spokesperson said. Police spokesperson also added that said militant allegedly was involved in an attack on guard post at Court Complex in District Shopian in which a policeman was injured and in a firing incident in Awantipora and also in firing on joint security forces party in Kawni. "Besides this his role in recent grenade attacks in the district is being ascertained, he said. Police also said the said militant had joined HM in September 2014. Meanwhile some intelligence sources said that HM ultra was arrested during an anti insurgency operation conducted a week ago and later was shifted to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) Anantnag for sustained interrogation. |
