Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 16: The state vigilance commission has sought personal appearance of then Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Pulwama, in connection with the alleged irregularities committed in the selection of Data Entry Operators (DEOs) in the district. Proceeding on a complaint of bunglings, favouritism and other corrupt practices allegedly committed during the selection process of DEOs on contractual basis under Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Shashaktikaran Abhiyan in 2014-15 by the selection committee headed by then ACD, Pulwama (chairman of district level selection committee), besides delegating the authority to a consolidated employee to conduct practical test of candidates in utter violation of prescribed rules and norms, SVC sought report from the deputy commissioner, Pulwama. The report submitted before the commission prima-facie revealed a series of omissions and commissions in every aspect of the selection process committed by the selection committee, resulting in arbitrary, unfair and non-transparent selection, alibi misuse of official powers by the concerned public servants. SVC, while taking a serious view of the allegations, directed then ACD, Pulwama, to ensure his presence before it on the next date of hearing along with his comments. |
