Rahul Gandhi likely to visit Jammu on March 2
2/16/2016 11:56:18 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 16: Amidst speculations that Ghulam Nabi Azad is evading contact with the PCC president over appointment of new district and block presidents, national vice-president of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi is visiting Jammu in first week of next month.
Even as the exact date for the proposed visit has not yet been officially finalized, sources in Congress circles said that Rahul Gandhi is likely to arrive here on March 2 and address Congress workers at Hari Singh Park adjoining Tawi bank near Press Club Jammu.
Besides the public rally, Rahul Gandhi is understood to hold a closed door meeting with the PCC president and his team for discussing the organizational matters in Jammu and Kashmir, where the party leadership is trying its best to rejuvenate Congress at ground level.
Though some Congress leaders are claiming that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are visitng Jammu, sources suggest that only the later has given his consent for the same while the name of former is being circulated to convey that PCC president G A Mir has the blessings of duo.
According to the sources, the proposed visit of Rahul Gandhi has been managed by G A Mir, who is allegedly being ignored by the tallest Congess leader from J&K and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad. Main purpose of the visit is to show closeness of Mir with Rahul and get the list of district presidents approved without the consent of Azad, sources explained.
Pertinent to mention that appointment of district and block president of Congress in Jammu Kashmir has been pending in the wake of difference between Azad and G A Mir, who are trying their best to accommodate their respective loyalists on these positions.
