Early Times Report jammu, Feb 16: Observing that the employees of police stations, who are posted in their hometowns, shield local criminals, thereby leading to the increase in crime, the district police has decided against posting them in the areas where their residences are located. To start with, a senior district police officer Monday night ordered the transfer of dozens of local employees from Miran Sahib, Arnia and R S Pura police stations, police sources said. Sources said the need to this effect was felt after a protester alleged at Miran Sahib two days back that some local employees of police stations were hand-in-glove with criminals. As his allegation was found to be true during a secret probe by the senior officer, he ordered the transfer of dozens of such employees from Miran Sahib, Arnia and R S Pura police stations last night and posted non-local employees in their place, the sources added. Many other local employees were likely to be transferred from other police stations of the district as well to outside police stations or police posts, sources said. "During their hometown postings, these employees develop links with local criminals and shield them whenever they commit crimes," the sources added. |
