ET Report jammu, Feb 16: In the 40-day Governor Rule in J&K, no state cadre IPS officer applied for a posting at the Centre. Reason: There is no political intervention in their working and all are happy to work in a free atmosphere. This was, however, not the case before the Governor Rule that was imposed on January 8 last after the demise of chief minister Mufti Mohammad Syed on January 7. Unhappy with political interference in their working, IPS officers would often make up their mind against working on the diktats of politicians and then proceed on central deputation to work in a free and fair atmosphere. But the trend has ceased as none of them applied for central deputation in the first 40 days of the Governor Rule, police sources pointed out. Even those, who had submitted applications for postings at the Centre, were now unwilling to leave the state. They feel that in an atmosphere of no political interference, they can perform well and deliver more. In the absence of elected government in the state, there was no political pressure on officers to post SSPs and junior ranks at the places of choice of the ministers and other politicians, sources said. Fed up with the political interference in their working, last year also, some IPS officers, including IGPs, had proceeded on central deputations, the sources added. |
