Kathua, Feb 16: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, illegal smuggling of liquor from other States, the J&K Excise Department continued its raids/ checking of various locations/ premises to check the offences/ crimes being committed and destroyed around 600 kgs of Lahan (material used for illicit liquor). According to official spokesperson, under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem, the sleuths of Excise Department Kathua under the command of ETO, Sandeep and ETO, Eradication, Suresh raided the Parsochak and Kundechak area of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation.
During the drive the excise sleuths destroyed over six hundred kilo grams of Lahan and also seized forty pouches of illicit liqour, which is highly hazardous & injurious to health and destroyed the same on spot. |
