Chanjloo villagers stop PWD works in protest | | | Early Times Report BANIHAL, Feb 16: Local residents of village Chanjloo of Banihal in district Ramban stopped the ongoing works of Public Works Department (PWD) who are constructing retaining and protection walls on the Banihal-Chanjloo link road. The residents of Mulwat Chanjloo alleged that they have provided and donate their agricultural lands for the road construction of the village. They alleged that department is opening the tenders for those areas on road where they got free stones and other items for wall construction and their agricultural lands are still without protection. They said that department is doing this all for their own interests and personal benefits and neglected the needy ones. Locals said that near about two dozen land owners of the village are also still without compensation for the past one decade and their compensation files are biting dust in different concerned offices. Locals threatened that until and unless their lands from where the road was constructed were not protected, they will not allow the department at any cost for any kind of construction. Locals of Malwat Chanjloo said that they made many requests to the concerned officials of PWD sub division Banihal for the protection walls on the road side near their lands but all in vain. |
