Excise sleuths raids in Kathua, Udhampur, destroys over 750 lts Lahan | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Mar 14: In order to curb the menace of illegal distillation and sale of illicit liquor, the Excise Department, conducted a series of raids in Kathua and Udhampur. The excise sleuths also destroyed over 750 ltrs of lahan which was recovered during these raids. According to spokesperson, under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem, Excise Team Kathua under the command of ETO, Sandeep Gupta and ETO, Suresh Sharma raided the Parsochak and Kundechak areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation. "More than 750 hundred kilo grams of Lahan and 12 bottles of illicit liquor recovered by the raiding team were later destroyed by the team on spot, he added. He added that that meanwhile Excise team Udhampur laid a surprise Naka on Jammu-Srinagar national highway and in the process a fine of rupees nine thousands six hundred and twenty was recovered from defaulters. "A bid to smuggle willow clefts was also thwarted by the Excise Naka team, he added. |
