Guv’s office asks Edu deptt to go ahead with APs recruitment process | | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 14: The stalled recruitment process for nearly 1650 posts of Assistant Professors is likely to restart as Governor House has reportedly asked Higher Education department to continue with the process and there was no requirement to wait for Nigvekar Committee report. But the Higher Education department has yet to give green signal to Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission to continue with the interview process. An official in the office of Advisor to Governor NN Vohra, wishing anonymity informed Early Times that on 9th of March 2015, a communique with dispatch number 56 was forwarded by Advisor to Commissioner Secretary Higher Education department directing them not to wait for the report of Nigvekar Committee. Sources informed that on 9th of March a delegation of NET/SLET and Ph.D candidates had called on advisor to Governor and had expressed their concern over the stalled recruitment process by JKPSC on the recommendations of Higher Education department, in wake of the controversy over Minimum Standard Procedure (MSP) certificates to Ph.D candidates. "Advisor to Governor had a telephonic conversation with Secretary of University Grants Commission Dr Yash Pal Singh Sandhu", sources said, adding that UGC secretary had made it clear that there was no need to halt the recruitment process by waiting for Nigvekar Committee Report, which might take many more months. "Even if the report will be submitted and recruitment rules will be amended, even then the rules will not be retrospective in nature, thus already advertised notification will not be effected, therefore there is no need to stop the recruitment", the UGC secretary had reportedly said to Advisor to Governor. Sources further said that after discussing the issue with UGC secretary, Advisor to Governor NN Vohra reportedly directed Commissioner Secretary through a written communique to continue the recruitment process, given his conversation with UGC secretary. Despite a communique forwarded by Advisor of Governor to Commissioner Secretary but there was no direction from Higher Education department to JKPSC to continue the process. Commissioner Secretary of Higher Education department, Sarita Chouhan said that so far she had not received any communique from Governor’s office for continue the recruitment process. She further said that though she was outside the State, adding that until she was in Jammu, she had not received any communication from Governor's office. An official in JKPSC said that so far they had not received any communication to restart the process. Pertinently, JKPSC had deferred the recruitment process on the request of Higher Education department, following requests by Jammu and Kashmir University to wait for Nigvekar Committee report. |
