Cops forced to pay for farewell party for IPS officer | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 14: Some Station House Officers (SHOs) and in-charge police posts were forced to pool for a lavish farewell party accorded to an outgoing Indian Police Services (IPS) officer. Some of the angry policemen complained that they were forced to pay from their pockets by their seniors for the farewell party, which was hosted in a luxurious hotel in Jammu. According to the aggrieved cops, they were forced to pay between Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 depending upon their official position-Rs 3000 for in-charge police posts and Rs 5000 for SHOs respectively for this mega party. "We were asked to contribute for the party, which was organized days back to appease the outgoing IPS officer. Though many of the contributors were teetotalers and preferred vegetarian food, the organizers (senior police officers) compelled us to pay the money," said one of the unhappy cops. Sources said the party was organized by some blue-eyed SHOs to remain in good books of the transferred IPS officer. |
