HC directs Home Commissioner, J&K Spl Tribunal to file status | PIL highlighting delay in finalisation of 147 departmental inquiries | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 14 : A high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today granted three weeks time to the home commissioner and the registrar of J&K Special Tribunal, Jammu, to file the updated status of pending departmental inquiries. After hearing the two sides, the bench also directed petitioners to file their respective status reports. The court's attention was drawn towards the directions passed by it on February 29, 2016 when eight administrative secretaries were impleaded as party respondents and directed to file the status of the pending departmental inquiries. The counsel submitted that status reports on behalf of Floriculture, Gardens and Parks Department, Health and Medical Education Department, Forest, Environment and Ecology Department, Cooperatives Department, Sheep and Animal Husbandry Department, Rural Development Department had been filed, but status reports on behalf of Home Department, ARI & Trainings Department and J&K Special Tribunal had not been filed till date. He submitted that the matters were being delayed without any lawful justification and in some cases the delinquent public servants had even attained superannuation. He submitted that some of the delinquent public servants were occupying prime positions in various departments, sending a very wrong signal in the society. The bench allowed the petitioners to file a statement pointing out the discrepancies in the status reports received so far. (JNF) |
