Day 12: Jewellers association protests against 'excise duty' on gold | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Mar 14: Continuing their protest against the centre's move to impose the 'excise duty on gold' the Udhampur Jewellers Association today on consecutive twelth day staged protest demanding roll back of excise duty on gold. The protestors led by Joginder Verma President of jewelers association, raising slogans demanded revocation of excise duty at earliest. Speaking on occasion, Joginder Verma said that we had continued nationwide strike which today has completed 12 days but centre yet has not shown any response. He also said the protest will continue till our demands are met. He also said on the March 17 a call for all India Bandh has been called by the national body of jewelers and a delegations of jewelers are going to Delhi to join protest at main venue in national capital. He threatened that in a bid to intensify our stir the association and also enforce 'bandh' along the national highway. He however flayed the approach of Udhampur Beopar Mandal which yet has not expressed its solidarity with the protesting jewelers who are on strike for the last 12 days. |
