Crackdown on school buses, 80 buses challaned for traffic violations, 20 seized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 14: The traffic police today launched a drive in Jammu city against traffic violations and challaned eighty vehicles - school buses and seized twenty of them for violations of traffic norms. The drive was launched after traffic police received complaints that school buses in and periphery of the city, did not adhere to traffic norms thus putting lives of the children at risk. As per reports, the checking drive which was launched in the morning, around one hundred and fifty schools buses were checked and found that around one hundred were involved in traffic violations and did not adhere to the Motor Vehicles Department rules and regulations. "These violations include over crowding, without first aid boxes, without conductors and helpers and plying vehicles without seat belts. "Of hundred, twenty were those vehicles which were running on illegal gas kits and accordingly seized while rest of the vehicles were challaned", DySP traffic Tajinder Singh said. The traffic police have also issued warnings to the school authorities to follow the traffic norms to evade seizure and penalty. |
