Challenge ahead for State to spend Rs 400 Cr | Restoration of flood damaged road | | Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 27: Although Centre Government has been providing funds to State Government to restore flood damaged roads but latter has always shown poor performance in utilizing the same funds in proper manner. Sources told Early Times that the Planning and Development Department is all set to send proposal of Rs 400 crore to National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog for its sanction in connection with restoration of damaged roads due to flash flood in the State and consequently the funds are expected to be released soon. "The fund to the tune of Rs 400 crore is being released by NITI Aayodg under Prime Minister Flood Restoration Programme. The amount further will be distributed equally between Jammu and Kashmir region i.e Rs 200 each for the work as per the proposal sent by Chief Engineers of the both regions," they added. Sources said that recently Governor of Jammu and Kashmir NN Vohra has taken the meeting of bureaucrats and the engineers of the Department giving directions to take necessary measures and steps to expedite the developmental works for their timely completion and it has also been learnt that Governor expressed his concern over the poor performance of the Department in proper utilization the funds. "The conditions of the roads in the State speaks volume of the apathy of the Department which hardly bother to take corrective measures and spending funds in appropriately across the State actually the doubt has been growing due to the recent act of the Department in which it macadamized the road only within the city area and left the adjoining and rural areas where roads have badly damaged due to flood and has caused serious threat for transportation," they added. |
