Big sharks go scot free, axe falls on pigmies | War against corruption fails to take off in JK | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 27: The war against corruption has not taken off in Jammu Kashmir properly till date notwithstanding the number of anti-graft bodies operating here. It has been observed that the anti-graft bodies lay their hands on lower rung employees like patwaries, teachers and clerks. The big sharks go scot free and at times are `punished' with promotion and incentives. The state has a dubious distinction of not bringing a single IAS/IPS officer to justice not to speak of ministers. The irony is that the corrupt manage stays from the courts to defeat the very purpose of a probe. At times, the very existence of the anti-graft body is jeopardised. The Governor has shown the way. He wanted an end to corruption and keep the flame alive without succumbing to political pressures and coalition compulsions. The only case where the government showed some teeth was Mushtaq Pir's CET scam. However, in that case, according to sources, some people were spared. Similarly, the 2008 sex scandal was also hushed up. No action was taken against people shown in the list issued by High Court. |
