Babudom scared of Mehbooba's advent 3/28/2016 12:08:31 AM Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 27: The bureaucratic hierarchy of the state is in a state of panic as Mehbooba's crowning as Chief Minister of the state is now just a matter of time as the first woman Chief Minister nominate is known for her no-nonsense approach. Sources in the PDP divulge that Mehbooba had undergone a tough regimentation as a politician and party ideologue during years of her proximity with her father and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. "Though Mehbooba believes in politics of development and welfare, she has made it amply clear by declining to accept CM's chair immediately after the demise of her father, that she was not lured by power" said a party functionary, preferring not be named. "She also believes in clean and responsive administration and for that she may take up an operation clean up to ensure effective deliverance of government policies and programs" he added. Though Mehbooba has never held a ministerial berth in the state despite the fact that her party has come to power for the second time, yet she has represented Wachi constituency in the State Assembly and has been leader of the opposition during NC-Congress regime. Those who have worked with her in the party and in her constituency know that she is a tough task master and would not take any claptrap. Her lack of experience in governance shall be made up by the presence of senior party leaders M H Beigh, who has been former DyCM of the state and T H Karra, who has been former Minister for Finance, even as both are presently LoK Sabha MPs. While senior bureaucrats have started putting their houses in order before first woman CM leads her Council of Ministers into the civil secretariat, a retired bureaucrat said, "New CM shall have many a challenges before her and for that she would need a team of dependable and result oriented team of secretaries heading all departments". "After forcible retirement of 37 most corrupt government officers and officials, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had got another list of blacksheep within the state bureaucracy made and there would not be any surprises if Mehbooba takes action against them to send a strong message amongst the administrative machinery and the people of the state that she meant business", he averred.
