Kathua, Mar 27 : While hundreds of registered Government contractors bidding in competitive tendering for development works , Irrigation Department Kathua while violating all rules and regulations has started number of development works without any tender or contact to registered contractors and allocated funds are openly being misappropriated , triggering strong resentment among contractors.
As per a government order, public offices must e-tender the project work and after collecting quotations from registered contractors, the work can be allocated, but Irrigation department Kathua started renovation works of irrigation buildings and quarters in violation of laid norms even as there was no need to renovate the buildings. When contacted, Anil Janjua AEE Irrigation Department accepted the fault of department for not inviting e-tenders. He informed that Rs 5 lacs were allocated by Chief Engineer to renovate the buildings on their own.
A registered contractor said," we came to know from sources that Rs 10 lacs were sanctioned for the works which is being done without any tender," and sought an inquiry as number of such cases were highlighted in previous months . |
