Early Times Report

Kathua, Mar 27 : Kathua district is brazenly belying the hyped Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in letter and spirit as officials of Municipal Council Kathua and hundreds of Safaikaramcharis enjoy deep slumber, reducing Kathua town into a heap of garbage, vulnerable to deadly communicable diseases.
One can easily observe the worse of condition of town wherein number of awareness camps and activities were organized to sensitize the officials of Municipal Council and people in general. Huge heaps of sticking garbage can be seen on roads like Shaheedi Chowk to Kathua town, near Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Jasrotia hospital, Parliwand, Tubewell road Krishna Colony, behind SSP office, Zarai road, opposite Ranjit Palace etc.
Ajay Kumar a social activist, said people are habitual of all these as MC officials do not bother about suffering of people. It seems 'Clean India Mission' has still not reached Kathua town as officials don't make effort to make the mission successful.
Pritam Singh, a senior citizen' said MC Kathua must take responsibility towards nation, lift garbage in routine, open Cow Ponds and control stray animals including dogs but they don't leave their chair and office to review the actual position of the town. He appealed Governor to control on his lethargic officers and make the mission successful in Kathua besides respite for passers-by and public in general.
Clean India Mission (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan) was launched throughout length and breadth of the country as a national Movement. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi enthusiastically took responsibility to fulfill dream of Father of Nation MK Gandhi for Clean India, spent huge amount in public awareness camps, streamline the system and launched 'Clean India Movement in 2nd Oct 2014 with an aim to clean the entire country.
