Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 27: In what can be seen as the revived PDP-BJP alliance setting new trends and traditions setting aside the traditional practices on government formation, there is no clue nor any confirmation from either end with regard to oath taking ceremony despite both the parties having staked claim for the same. Uncertainty prevailing over the date is only fuelling the rumours that the new dispensation to be is leaning on a weak and fragile wicket.
Sources said it has never been in the Parliamentary practices nor seen it ever before in the state that after staking claim over formation of government and supported well by the alliance partner, no date is yet fixed for the new government to come into existence. "When any party stakes claim over government formation, it means a final call and implies everything is settled and sorted out…..but in this case the scene is far from being so as uncertainty still prevails over unspecified reasons", said the sources, adding that a message has gone in the political circles that things have not been sorted out yet by the alliance partners for the new government.
It has been a precedence that when any political party approaches Governor and stakes claim , on the same day it gives date or seeks it from the latter, said the sources. Governor too , as seen in the past confirms it without delay albeit after due consultation with the leaders of the alliance partners. But in the present case this precedence has been set aside as the parties are learnt to have sought more time before taking oath. However, the Governor NN Vohra sources said has conveyed to both the parties not to get this delayed and fix mutually acceptable date at the earliest, sources within the PDP said.
Even as the Governor's Administration is all set to present Vote on Account tomorrow which is the only immediate and important task for the government to accomplish on account of financial year coming to close in few days, sources said the Governor too has conveyed to PDP and BJP leadership that after staking claim there was no reason to get the matters delayed for oath taking ceremony, sources said. Political observers too are viewing this as deviation from the traditional Parliamentary practices that alliance partners asking Governor to wait and seeking more time for whatever issues they have, sources said, adding that the question being raised in the political circles is if there were certain issues that needed to be sorted out, what was the hurry in staking claim days ahead.
