Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 27: While the state administration had shown good results by managing the administrative affairs and also delivering the governance in the right perspective, however the men and machinery entrusted with the job to reach out to the masses to deliver the goods have erred.
The tehsil Pouni in Reasi district has suffered a great on this account as the money disbursed by the government at the higher echelons for the needy and the poor at the lower strata never reached the actual beneficiaries while the close aides and relatives of the disbursement officers filled their coffers.
The case has been reported from the Pouni tehsil in Reasi district where the tehsildar, naib tehsildar and sarpanchs and panchs were entrusted with the job to forward money of relief and rehabilitation to the flood victims of 2014 floods never reached the actual beneficiaries.
"Instead the money has been siphoned off and transferred to the accounts of the close aides of the influential as well as the disbursing officers put on duty," said one of the poorer widow of a village in Pouni .
She said that her entire house was reduced to rubble and the inspection team that visited her house in the year 2015 had assured here a substantial amount to raise her structure back.
But when it came to the disbursement of the money, not a single penny was transferred to her account, she lamented.
Tehsildar , naib tehsildar, sarpanch and panchs of the area were entrusted with the job to make a judicious disbursement of the funds.
Tehsildar Pouni, Munshi Ram gave a very vague and lame reply.
"Let the sufferers come to me with the applications and I will see into the matter," said Munshi Ram when queried by the this reporter.
Many of the sufferers of the area have asked for a vigilance enquiry into the matter and sought the government intervention in the matter so that money distributed to the influential could be retrieved back and then distributed to the actual beneficiaries.
District Commissioner Sushma Chauhan, phone remained out of reach when contacted by this reporter.
