Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 27 : Charging the BJP with conspiring against India and the minorities in the state, including Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs, by re-stitching alliance with the PDP on the PDP's unsettling and atrocious terms and conditions, Prof Hari Om on Sunday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah to tell the concerned nation as to what exactly PDP president Mehbooba Mufti meant when she on Saturday said at Raj Bhavan that her late father "forged alliance (with BJP) for a larger purpose than just for the formation of the government".
"The 'larger purpose' goal of the PDP has alarmed, shocked and frightened the minorities in the state and created among them a sense of insecurity. The Prime Minister BJP president have to tell the nation and the minorities in the state as to what assurances they gave to the PDP president to break the impasse over the government formation. They can't take the minorities in the state and people of Jammu province for a ride and the nation for granted. They have to reveal all the details on the kind of deal they struck with the PDP," said Prof Hari Om.
He asked them if the Prime Minister and Amit Shah have accepted the PDP's demand of self-rule that seeks to limit the jurisdiction of New Delhi over J&K to only defence, foreign affairs and communication; introduce dual currency in the state; render the borders irrelevant; demilitarize J&K; revoke AFSPA; oust the army from the land it holds for training purposes and military operation; establish parity between New Delhi and Islamabad as far as sharing of sovereignty in this part of the state is concerned; introduce Islamic institutions; and so on.
"They must make their stand clear on the political status of J&K vis-à-vis India and on the PDP's demand of self-rule public so that the nation knows what the Central Government is up to," said Prof Hari Om, adding that it is just disgusting that this so-called ultra nationalist BJP at the behest of the countries like United States and Pakistan is negating all that the nation did during all these 70 years to integrate the state into India.
"Indeed, the policies of the BJP are not nation-centric. Indeed, the BJP's foreign policy is not based on the country's geo-political and economic interests. Indeed, the BJP is misusing the national mandate to accommodate the geo-political and religious interests of Pakistan in this part of the state. Indeed, the BJP is creating a situation that would leave the nationalist people of Jammu province and Ladakh region with no other option but to quit their homes and hearths and become refugees in their own motherland like the miniscule minority of Kashmiri Hindus and many Kashmiri Sikhs became refugees in 1990," asserted Prof Hari Om.
Prof Hari Om also asked the BJP if it had agreed to the PDP's power-sharing formula that renders the people of Jammu province unreal and ineffective for all purposes and gives absolute political powers to Kashmir so that it could further strengthen its stranglehold over Jammu and Ladakh and exploit them and their natural resources, including precious waters, green-gold and minerals.
"The BJP has to make its stand clear on the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's Raj Bhavan statement that Jammu had to accept the position of servitude and remain content with those toothless portfolios the power-hungry and anti-Jammu BJP got in March 2015," said Prof Hari Om. He added that the people of Jammu province will only accept that power-sharing formula that enables them to lead the state government for at least half the term and also treats Jammu region equally with Kashmir as far as allocation of portfolios and representation in the state cabinet and council of ministers is concerned.
Prof Hari Om expressed hope that the BJP will see the writing on the ball and not do anything that harms the nation, converts Jammu region and Ladakh into Kashmir's colonies and forces the people of these two regions to imitate the hapless and abandoned Kashmiri Hindus and migrate.
