Jammu, Mar 27 : Police today claimed to have foiled a murder bid by arresting four accused and recovering one loaded pistol, one country made pistol (katta), 11 live rounds of 8 mm and two sharp- edged weapons from their possession. Police sources identified the accused as Bikramjeet Singh alias Vicky, son of Mohan Singh of Babliyana, Satwari, Gagandeep Singh, son of Inderjeet Singh of Digiana Camp, Dashmesh Nagar, Gagandeep Singh, son of Joginder Singh of Simbal Morh, and Paramjeet Singh, son of Harnam Singh of Seora. One of the accused managed to escape from the spot. DSP Dayama Harish Kumar Omparkash, who is on probation as SHO of R S Pura police station, SI Ashwani Kumar, cops -- Subash Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Tarsem Lal - ex-serviceman Avtar Singh and SPO Bawa Saini laid a naka on Tanda Road near Chohala, R S Pura, on a tip-off that some criminals, who had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate their rival at R S Pura, were to pass from there, sources said. Sources said when the naka party signalled two motorcycles to stop, Vicky and Paramjit took out their weapons and tried to open fire but the cops overpowered them. While one fled the spot, the other four were taken into custody. One loaded pistol, one 'katta' along with 11 live rounds of 8 MM and two sharp-edged weapons were recovered from their possession. The two motorcycles were also seized. While one bore registration No JK02AK/ 1451, the other was without number. A case against the accused was registered at R S Pura police station under section 307 of RPC and sections 4/25 and 3/25 of Arms Act. Sources alleged that the accused were on their way to R S Pura to eliminate their rival.
