Anantnag, June 1: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that she hopes that Anantnag people will trust her by voting in her favor in June 19 by-polls to Anantnag Assembly constituency for which she filled her nomination papers. "My father has started his political career from Anantnag district. People not only supported him during turbulent times but also subscribed to his ideology. I hope people will repose faith in him like they reposed faith with my father," Mehbooba told reporters after filling her nomination papers before the Returning Officer here at DC Complex Anantnag. She said that her late father was always showing extra keenness in developing the Anantnag but unfortunately he couldn't lead to conclusion all those developments proposals he had planned last year for the district. "I hope people will trust me and will give me chance to make my father's dream true," she added. Mehbooba, who is seeking election from the Anantnag assembly segment for the first time in her political career, filed her nomination papers before the Returning Officer here. She was accompanied by Member Parliament, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, former Deputy Speaker, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Chief Spokesman, Dr Mehbooba Beigh, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Waheed-ur-Rehman Para and legislators, Aijaz Ahmad Mir and Firdous Ahmad Tak at the time of filing her nominations. On the last date of filing of nomination papers for Bye-elections to Anantnag Assembly constituency, seven nomination papers were filed today. The total number of nominations filed has reached nine, including six independents and three from political parties. The candidates who have filed their nominations are Ms. Mehbooba Mufti of PDP, Hilal Ahmad Shah of INC, Iftikhar Hussain Misgar of NC besides, Tejinder Singh, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman, Er. Abdul Rasheed, Masroor Ahmad Mir and Mushtaq Ahmad Shah all independents. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on June 2, 2016 at the office of Returning Officer while as nominations can be withdrawn by June 4. |
