The said officer has always remained in news for wrong reasons. He was once again caught on wrong foot this time as he played a vital role in allotting the construction work of boys hostel without inviting tender. The cost of construction is stated to be Rs 10 Crore. Highly placed sources told Early Times the SMVDU authorities allotted construction work of boys hostel Basohli and Vashnavi girls hostel's extension in CD block valuing Rs 10 Crore through a back channel. Furthermore, Rs 3 Crore painting work of campus was allotted without inviting any tender. The SMVDU authorities allegedly hired an architect, for consultancy of the construction of guest house and extension of girls hostel, who was allegedly blacklisted by then VC SMVDU N.K Bansal in 2007. Sources said the said architect charged 4 percent fee of the total value of the projects valuing Rs 50 Crore. Pertinently, the counsel of Architect prescribed 3 percent fee while as the said contractor is being given 4 percent fee. The SVMDU authorities allegedly hired consultancy despite of the fact that the university has well established architectural department. Sources said the one year's tender of housekeeping, security and horticulture within the university premises have not been renewed even after passing of three years, the reason best known to the SMVDU authorities. Meanwhile incumbent VC SMVDU Sanjeev Jain when contacted said that he has recently joined the university and is totally unaware of the matter, adding, if the allegations prove to be true action would be initiated against the erring officers. |
