BJP minister skips LA, enjoys company of NC MLA
6/2/2016 12:28:43 AM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 1: A senior BJP minister on Wednesday left his party activists high and dry by conducting a whirlwind tour of Ganderbal district in central Kashmir along with the National Conference MLA.
Sources told Early Times the BJP Minister had visited Ganderbal area last month along with the party leaders and had addressed a public durbar there. The minister and the local BJP leaders had assured the people that their grievances would be addressed.
"Soon after the BJP Minister returned from Ganderbal he was contacted by the NC MLA," sources added.
The NC MLA, according to the sources, told the BJP Minister that he is the concerned MLA and he (MLA) would be in a better position to make him understand about the problems faced by the people.
The insiders revealed the BJP Minister chose Wednesday to visit Ganderbal as he wanted to save himself from answering the queries pertaining to his ministry in the Assembly.
Sources said the BJP Minister last evening had informed a few local BJP leaders about his program to visit Ganderbal. The local BJP leaders, according to the sources, had informed the minister that they would accompany him. "The Minister without taking the local BJP leaders into confidence reached Ganderbal and he was accorded a warm welcome by the NC MLA and his supporters," sources added.
They said, the BJP Minister enjoyed the company of the NC MLA and had a hearty lunch with him at his residence. "The bonhomie between the NC MLA and the BJP minister annoyed the local BJP leaders, who informed the party high command about the development," sources added.
They said, "BJP high command has taken a serious note about minister's misadventure and violating the coalition dharma. He did not even take the PDP MLC into the confidence. Nor did he inform him (PDP MLC) about his visit."
A local BJP leader while talking to Early Times said, "When we visited Ganderbal last time people informed us about the problems which they have faced during the past so many years. They told us about the injustice which was done to them during the NC regime despite they voting for Abdullahs religiously."
He said, "We had told the masses that we will undo all the wrongs committed by the National Conference in the past. It's strange that our own minister left us in lurch and enjoyed the company of NC MLA."
Another BJP leader said, "It's not for the first time that our ministers have let us down. They have developed a habit of doing so."
