Bijay Charak Early Times Report Jammu, June 1: Blame it on the administrative inertia and indifference in the health department, government's initiative to improve healthcare in the peripheral health centres has been grounded. State Government had taken an initiative to improve the quality of laboratories and diagnostic facilities for patient in rural health institutions the previous year, and proposed three Semi Auto Analayzer equipments to three Community Health Centres (CHCs) of Jammu district but they have not been procured so far. Sources in department concern informed Early Times that government had proposed three machines for CHC Marh, Bishnah and Sohanjana at an estimate cost of Rs. 9 lakhs and their procurement was to be monitored by state and district health officials. "Due to non - availability of such services in rural health institutions, doctors advise patient to conduct test in private labs", sources said, adding that generally tests from different labs give different findings. Sources further said that Semi-Auto Analyzer machine helps in measuring chemical indexes by examining blood and other body fluid. Further, it is combined with other clinical information, to assist in evaluating organs function, diagnosing diseases, recognizing disease gene and determining the norm for future therapy. The in-built thermal printer of the analyzer prints the results and makes, diagnosing a disease simpler process. When contacted Block Medical Officer Bishnah, Dr Desh Raj Dogra said that he had not received Semi Auto Analyzer machine so far but we are conducting the above test manually. However, repeated calls to Director Health Services Jammu, Dr BS Pathaina failed as he did not respond to calls. |
