Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: Even after a day of a political activist's manhandling allegedly a naib-tehsildar at Budhal in Rajouri, police have failed to register an FIR against the revenue officer. Police are alleged to be dragging feet in the matter even as the political activist had yesterday lodged a complaint with Budhal police station, alleging therein that he was manhandled by the naib-tehsildar. In his complaint, Waqar Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad of Budhal, stated that he had given a room on rent in his house to Fazal-ur-Rehman, patwari halqa Rajnagar, Budhal. Looking for him, naib-tehsildar Khursheed Ahmad Tantray came to his house yesterday and started making searches in the whole house, police sources said. "When I resisted on the plea that other families also live in the building and their searches will cause inconvenience to them, the naib-tehsildar manhandled me in the presence of some people, besides insulting me," Waqar alleged in his complaint. He alleged that the naib-tehsildar also thrashed his family members and other tenants, and threatened him of dire consequences for no fault of his. Waqar said Budhal police ought to have booked the naib-tehsildar under sections 503, 441 of 351 of RPC. He said he was surprised to note that police had so far taken no cognizance of his complaint. He has sought intervention of senior police officers in the matter. |
