Bovine smuggling bids foiled, 36 animals rescued, 8 held | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 1: Police today claimed to have foiled two bovine smuggling bids with the arrest of eight bovine smugglers while rescuing 36 bovine from the clutches of the smugglers during naka checking under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nagrota. Police spokesman said, "Police party from Police Post Sidhra under the jurisdiction of Nagrota while on Naka duty intercepted three Tata mobiles bearing registration numbers JK02AX-1497, JK02BF-1486 and JK02BD-5607 loaded with fourteen bovines." "During questioning the occupants of vehicles failed to produce any documents regarding inter-district transportation of animals and police arrested them on the spot, police said, adding the accused have been identified as Bagh Ali s/o Mohd Ismail, Javed Ahmed s/o Babu Din, Zahoor Hussain s/o Shah Din, Javed Ahmed s/o Noor Lai all residents of Katyal RS Pura, Shakeel Ahmed s/o Jaan Mohd and Mohd Asif sons of Mohd Raqibboth of Dooru, Anantnag. In a similar incident Police Party of Jhajjar Kotli rescued 22 bovine animals from Muneer Ahmed s/o Sattu of Banara, Udhampur and Nazir Hussain s/o Sher Mohd of Malik Market Narwal Jammu who were carrying these animals in vehicles bearing registration numbers JK14A-8391 and JK02AH-5977 without any permission. "The vehicles were seized and accused were arrested, police said. Police have registered three different cases under relevant sections of law at concerned police stations and further investigation of the cases is going on. |
