Jammu sizzles at 41.2 degrees, summer vacations from June 6 | | | Jammu, June 1: With no respite in sight from soaring mercury in the winter capital, Jammu and Kashmir government today announced 42 day-long summer vacations starting from June 6. The maximum temperature recorded here was 41.2 degrees, while the minimum was 23.0 degrees. Earlier on May 19, the winter capital experienced the season's hottest day with maximum temperature 43.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, as per order issued by the Commissioner Secretary to Government, School Education Department, all Government Educational Institutions and recognised private schools upto Higher Secondary level shall observe vacations from June 6 to July 17. ''Any default on the part of private schools in observance of the calendar of the summer vacations so authorised shall attract action under rules,'' read an order. |
