PNBMT asks Mahants, trusts to put aside personal interests | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: The general body of the Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) has appealed to all the mahants, managers and trustees of temples and Hindu shrines in Kashmir to rise above the personal interests and work in the direction of the protection and preservation of the temple and shrines in Kashmir, which is the sole objective of the Shrine Bill. Speaking of the resolve of the general body to get the shrine bill passed without any dilution, Dr R L Bhat, spokesperson of the trust, said that the PNBMT has great reverence for the sadhus and sanyaasis who have given up their homes and possessions to server dharma. PNBMT requests them to lead their disciples and followers to show similar indifference for the temple properties and treat them as the property of the larger samaaj. Speakers at the general body meeting, including Dr A N Pandita, Dr R L Bhat, M K Jalali, Virinder Raina, B L Bhat, H L Bhat and others expressed respect for the saintly personages of the hoary temples in the valley. Members of PNBMT requested the saints to educate the managers and trustees of different temple and shrine trusts about of their own renunciation and lead them to give up the selfish interests which makes them to think of the temple properties as personal fiefs and. They are afraid of the Shrine Bill, because it is for transparent management and would end temple properties being treated as private property. General body chalked out a program of interaction with all the people, trusts and mangers too, to remove any misgivings about the Shrine Bill due disinformation by some vested interests. |
