'Nothing in budget for daily wagers, PHE workers or unemployed youth in State' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 1: Former Minister and JKPCC general secretary Manjit Singh today criticized BJP Government hike in petrol, diesel and service tax which would affect badly the poor and middle class people. Former Minister was holding a monthly meeting of Congress workers in Vijaypur where the workers projected their demands while expressing concern over the hike in petrol and diesel prices. Speaking before the party workers, Manjit Singh said that already the eatables had increased and living condition has increased which made middle class helpless. "BJP has exposed for his hollow promises of 'Achhe Din' which they shouted during the parliamentary elections. We are unable to understand for which the good days have been brought by the Modi Government," alleged Singh. He said that people trapped in false promises but were betrayed by the BJP Government led by Narindra Modi. "Anger has been brewing among the people for increase in essential commodities with the increase in service tax. This is the highest rate of service tax and in coming days, everything would be costly," he further added. The people are frustrated with the increase in essential commodities and middle classes people have been grinded by the Modi Government. "This Government is for the business men not for the poor, middle class and farmers," he alleged. Meanwhile, he recalled that Congress Government had launched MGNERGA scheme under which not only people got 100 days jobs and infrastructure improved. "Congress also implemented sixth pay commission recommendations timely and also increased DA for the employees so that employees and middle class could not suffer," he alleged. He said that instead BJP-PDP Government in State especially Jammu and Kashmir declined to implement the 7th pay commission recommendations. He also criticized the budget presented by Finance Minister Hasib Drabu for giving clues for not implementing 7th pay commission for which the employees were waiting desperately. "The Government should have done ground work to arrange finance but they did nothing except denying commission's recommendation citing reason lack of funds," he alleged. Expressing surprise, he said, the Government did not consider long pending and genuine demands of the daily wagers like in PHE department. |
