In alleged Rs 27.60 cr HB scam, VO IGP files status report | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 1: Pursuant to the May 9, 2016 court direction in a contempt petition, state vigilance organisation (SVO) IGP today filed a status report in the high court in the alleged Rs 27.60 cr scam in housing board (HB). In the contempt petition, the petitioner had sought initiation of contempt of court proceedings against the SVO IGP and SSP Koshal Kumar Sharma for not registering FIR under Section 5(2) of PC Act against the ex-housing minister and former HB managing director in the Rs 27.60 cr scam. The petitioner alleged that the former housing minister in league with then HB managing director got several works executed both in Jammu and Srinagar purely on extraneous considerations and actuated with malafide exercise of power, resulting in creation of liabilities worth Rs 27.60 cr. In his status report, the IGP submitted that vide government order No 178-HUD of July 14, 2015, then HUDD secretary Bipul Pathak had constituted a committee for conducting enquiry into the works amounting to Rs 27.60 cr, directing it to submit report upto March 2, 2016. He said on examination of the complaint, it was found that the matter was under enquiry of the government. As per the guidelines laid down in vigilance manual, 2008, the complaint was referred to HUDD secretary with the request to furnish a factual report along with the outcome of the enquiry in the light of allegations of the complaint within a week's time vide communication No VO-Housing-G-04/2016-5711 of April 6, 2016. The IGP said the factual report in the matter had not been received by SVC till date and in this regard, a reminder No VO-Housing-G-04/2016-7840 of May 19, 2016 was issued in the matter, but the factual report was still awaited.
