Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report Srinagar, July 27: The government in the past has paid around 50 lac rupees to the ministers as rent charges that too for staying in their very own houses, reflecting the worrisome state of affairs under which the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been reeling since decades. Documents in possession of the Early Times reveal that during the tenure of the former chief minister Omar Abdullah, his eight ministers were given around 50 lac rupees as house compensatory allowance by the government for residing in their own houses. Such a bizzrae measure by the authorities besides pricking the good governance balloon, caused exchequer heavy losses during the period of April 2010 to December 2014. Documents reveal further that these ministers were not entitled for any luxurious furniture items from the government of Jammu and Kashmir but ironically the government then issued furniture and carpets worth Rs 20 lac to these eight ministers of Omar Abdullah's regime.
