Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 3: Meant to promote and nurture sports in schools, the department of Youth Services and Sports is doing biggest disservice to the promising players with bunch of incompetent and visionless officials misinterpreting rules to extend undue favours to the blue eyed at the cost of deserving young players who aspire to represent the state in the national school games in various disciplines. For more than four decades, the department of youth services and sports has been conducting interschool games at the district, province and state level in manner that spells absolute bankruptcy, utter lack of accountability and complete policy paralysis within the department. The department has no coordination with the schools, has no infrastructure of its own to conduct any competitions, no logistics and qualified man power and no will and vision in its officers to identify and handle budding talent. A youth was declared dead on arrival at District Hospital Anantnag, the doctors said.
