Jammu, Nov 12: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan performed musical play Vishwakarma today in collaboration with Unison Cultural Troupe and Sangam Tru Art Production on celebration of Vishwakarma day. According to press release, the play was written and Directed by ML Dogra, Former Regional Director of Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information Broadcasting, Government of India, the program was inaugurated by VK Magotra, Former Regional Director, of Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India as chief guest. Earlier welcoming the audience ML Dogra, Chairman, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan, through the light on Vishwakarma day and said God Vishwakarma day is a day of celebration for Vishwakarma, a Hindu god, the divine architect and one of the fourteen precious things born of the Sumudra Manthan. He constructed the holy city of Dwarka where Krishna ruled, the Maya sabha of the Pandavas, and was the creator of many fabulous weapons for the gods. He is also called the divine Carpenter, is mentioned in Ring Veda, and is credited with Sthapatya veda, the science of mechanics statues and pictures of Vishwakarma are normally installed in every workplace and factory. All workers gather in one common place and perform the puja (reverence) Vishwakarma puja is also celebreated a day after Diwali, along with Govardhan puja. This ritual usually takes place within the factory premises or shop floor, and the otherwise mundane workshops come alive with fiesta. Vishwakarma Puja is also associated with the buoyant custom of flying kites. This occasion in a way also marks the start of the festive season that culminates in Diwali. |
