srinagar, Nov 12: Separatist factions in Kashmir are engaged once again in formulating a strategy to devise a cycle of strikes in which moderate separatist leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while taking lead proposed a joint protest programme on November 18.
Mirwaiz who heads his own separatist faction (M), in a press conference here today said that "there is no option left with separatist leaders except issuing protest programmes to tackle what he said "Oppressive tactics" of the administration.
Hinting a fresh cycle of Protests in Kashmir, Mirwaiz said that he has called for a Joint Protest programme on November 18 in which all other separatist leaders will take part and formulate future strategy.
Alleging PDP-BJP Government for shrinking space of Separatist leaders, he said that 'Government at other places is considered working for people and protecting their rights, However, when it comes to this part of the globe it is opposite as according to him People's rights have been crushed and separatist leaders movement is restricted. Terming it a religious interference, Mirwaiz said that "we are not even allowed to offer Friday prayers." "Mufti Muhammad Sayeed-led Government in the State has unleashed a reign of terror and has used every possible measure to suppress the genuine voice of the people of Kashmir." Mirwaiz alleged.
While terming the Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed a "puppet of Modi", Mirwaiz said that much promoted 'Mufti's healing touch has turned into killer touch in entire State and Kashmir has been turned into a virtual prison.
He said that State is being run by police under the barrel of gun and they don't know where is Mufti's Goli se Nahi, Boli Se, slogan now. Mirwaiz though admitted that common masses here does not like Protests programmes more often announced by Separatist leaders, However said that "there is no other option presently available with the leadership, so leadership (Separatists) are compelled to go for strike calls."
About his November 18 Programme at Mirwaiz Manzil, Mirwaiz said that if Government doesn't allow his proposed joint program on November, "In that case separatists will ask people to come on roads and to protest and situation arising thereof shall be the responsibility of the Government alone.
While hinting out to join hands with other separatist leaders from November 18 onwards to run a cycle of Protests in Kashmir, Mirwaiz said that they have invited separatist leaders, civil society members, trader bodies, business community, editors, journalists, lawyers to participate in the program and put forward their valuable suggestions. Mirwaiz said that "situation in Kashmir is very bad at now and may slip from bad to worse as according to him all the institutions in Kashmir have collapsed and People are allegedly being killed by bullets and teargas shells and Pellets are used to muzzle the voices of people."
Notably fresh cycle of strikes has already begun in Kashmir where shut down for three days was observed in many parts of Srinagar city and South Kashmir in current week.
