Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 12: The careless administration of Jammu University has failed to continue the B.Ed course, leaving thousands of aspirants in the lurch. Sources informed Early Times that the course for session 2015-16 at JU was hanging in balance due non-seriousness of the varsity administration. "JU administration was aware of new guidelines fixed by the University Grants Commission, and the eligibility criteria as per new rules was deliberately not fulfilled by the university," sources said. They said that as per new rules, new eligibility was to be fixed for admission to B. Ed and minor changes were to be made in the existing syllabus. "As we know, already two year B.Ed course was being offered by JU at its Department of Distance Education (DDE). Diploma in ETT is to be added in eligibility and reframing of existing syllabus is to be made," said sources. They said the administration should fix responsibility for not being able to continue the course at the DDE. "It was responsibility of the course coordinator to compile study material and fulfill the eligibility criteria as asked by the UGC," said sources, adding that the B.Ed coordinator was not taking his job seriously. "Prof Yashpal, coordinator B.Ed, DDE, has been teaching Hindi, instead of doing his mandatory job. The approach of the coordinator speaks of volumes about how seriously he performed his duties", they added. Lambasting JU administration for not taking new rules seriously, sources said earlier the Kashmir University was offering one year B.Ed course, but after the new rules were introduced by the UGC, the university fulfilled requisite formalities and now the KU offers two year course for the current session. |
