Mehbooba 'to replace Mufti as CM on Nov 17' | BJP sets conditions for change of Guard in State | | Muhammad Mukaram Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 12: Ruling PDP's president Mehbooba Mufti is all set to replace her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of J&K on November 17, top sources told Early Times on Thursday. "Hectic discussion is going on between PDP and BJP over the issue. We are finalising the formalities for the change of guard with our coalition partner," said a senior PDP leader wishing anonymity. A BJP leader confirmed to Early Times that Mehbooba was replacing her father. "We have no problem with that but our only condition is two more portfolios for our party. If they agree, then we will agree over Mehbooba's appointment," he said. However, there is serious resentment brewing in the PDP as many leaders are against surrendering two key portfolios to the BJP, said sources. They said the BJP wants R&B and Finance Ministry as well. Notably, Mufti is reportedly suffering from some disease and has been advised to undergo a surgery. "It is because of illness of Mufti that he was accompanied by his daughter in public gatherings in last several months. Mufti wanted to raise the morale of his daughter," sources added. |
