Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 12: There are as many as 28 Inspectors available in Jammu district, yet Sub-Inspectors (SIs) are operating as Station House Officers (SHOs) of different police stations in this winter capital of the state. As per details gathered by Early Times, Jammu district has a sanctioned strength of 20 Inspectors (Executive Cadre), but there is actual strength of 28 Inspectors. Surprisingly, despite availability of eight more Inspectors, the district police have engaged four SIs as SHOs. If the sources are to be believed, barring one SI, who is known for being a thorough professional in the police department and is posted somewhere under SP Headquarter, the other three SIs are enjoying the patronage of seniors. Further, among the 28 Inspectors, range of two had been changed by the DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua range, Ashqoor Wani about a month ago but still are holding the post of SHOs. These SHOs are so powerful that they did not give a damn to the order of the DIG and continued to work as SHOs. On October 14, DIG Wani had ordered transfer and adjustments of seven Inspectors, including four SHOs, in three different districts. SHO Trikuta Nagar, Inspector Naveen Angral, and SHO Gangyal, Inspector Ajay Jamwal, were transferred from Jammu to Kathua districts. SHO Lakhanpur, Inspector Anuroop Kumar, was transferred from Kathua to Jammu district. Inspector Anu Radha was shifted from Jammu to Samba district. Inspector Ranvir Singh Bhau and Inspector Vijay Chaudhary were adjusted in Jammu district. Inspector Yash Pal Jamwal, SHO Nowshera, who had been allotted Jammu-Samba-Kathua range, was adjusted in Samba district. |
