Municipality starts cleanliness drive 11/12/2015 11:49:36 PM Early Times Report Kathua, Nov 12: Municipal Committee Kathua started 'One Week Cleanliness Drive' under the Swachh Bharat Mission here, on Thursday. The municipal committee woke up from deep slumber and today launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive week that commenced today and culminated on November 19. The Municipal Committee today organized a conference of prominent and local political leaders to keep suggestions for the cleanliness of entire town but all merely not more than a pomp and show just to highlight the programme in media than practically. Officials informed that many motivate programmes will be organized throughout the week wherein focus will be laid down to aware the public about cleanliness. He urged public to participate and make the city neat and clean. All political leaders including Naresh Sharma Sr Congress Leader addressed on the occasion and urged people to make the city clean as it would be hygienic and beneficial for sound health. He said people should themselves come ahead to make their surrounding neat and clean. Surinder Bajaj, President Veopar Mandal alleged on Municipal coouncil to organize the drive superficially otherwise nothing has been allegedly done practically. He said main chowks of the city have been turned into garbage but MC Kathua is in deep slumber. He said if MC works properly there is no need to launch such cleanliness drive but officials have failed at all ground to make the city clean. It is relevant to mention here that dozens of Dengue cases occurred in district Kathua due to unavailability of unhygienic atmosphere within last few months that revealed ignorance in the part of Municipal Council Kathua.
