Municipal Council kick starts week-long cleanliness drive 11/12/2015 11:50:11 PM Early Times Report Poonch, Nov 12: To kick-start a week-long cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Mission, Poonch Municipal Council (PMC) organized a Swachh Bharat awareness programme at Government Degree College Poonch here today. Member Legislative Assembly Haveli, Shah Mohammad Tantray was the chief guest on the occasion while prominent others present on occasion included Assistant Commissioner Development, Dr Basharat Hussain, Principal GDC, S Tajinder Singh and Chief Executive Officer PMC, Irshad Ahmed Sofi, Pardeep Khanna. Chief guest Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Haveli, Shah Mohammad Tantray while addressing the gathering spoke at length about the importance of cleanliness and exhorted the people to take responsibility in maintaining cleanliness all around saying that cleanliness has to start at individual level. Stressing for improving sanitation around the town, chief guest asked the CEO to ensure that ban on polythene carry bags is effectively implemented in Municipal limits. He also lauded the role of Safai Karamcharis in keeping Poonch town clean and assured that vacancies of Safai Karamcharis in PMC will be filled up soon. Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Development exhorted students and people of town to make Swachh Bharat Abhiyan into a movement. Earlier, Executive Officer PMC briefed the gathering about the efforts of PMC in keeping Poonch town clean and also elaborated upon the newly launched Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) schemes for households without latrine and asked the people to avail benefits under the scheme.
