Jammu, Dec 16: In a contempt petition filed in a Public Interest Litigation which was disposed of in the year 2002, following assurance of then Advocate General for taking steps for setting-up a degree college at Majalta, a Division Bench (DB) of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat also directed Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Department to file affidavit before December 18.
After hearing Adv Abhinav Sharma appearing for the PIL whereas AAG Rakesh Khajuria and Adv Gagan Basotra appearing for the state, the Division Bench (DB) observed that Commissioner/Secreatry Higher Education Department is directed to remain present in the court to explain the steps taken for implementing the assurance given by the Advocate General for settling up of college at Majalta which has been recorded in the Court on September 11, 2012 failing which serious view in this matter will be taken and also directed Commissioner/Secreatry Higher Education Department to file affidavit before December 18, 2015. --(JNF) |
