Constant delay in appointment of BJP State chief
Party Ministers, others lobbying for weak candidate
12/16/2015 11:48:17 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 16: Though BJP was to announce the election of its State president during the last week of last month after the process of organizational elections was over in the State but there is no headway in it till date as certain differences exist among the senior Party leadership over the issue.
According to sources the Legislators and Ministers are opposed to appointment of any strongman as party head whom they will not be able to tackle in a way in which they have been tackling the present State chief. This is the main reason that the Ministers and the Legislators in the State are opposing any such name who can create problems for them in future and whom they could not be able to tackle.
These Legislators and Ministers have already opposed the candidature of one of the sitting Legislators tooth and nail and suggested that his appointment will not be in the larger interests of the Party, sources said, adding the opposition to his candidature has put the Party High Command also in a fix with the result they are delaying the appointment of a successor to present Party president whose term is over now.
It may be recalled that earlier the BJP had given an impression that the election of new State chief will be announced by third week of November last month but the decision has been now constantly delayed for which the reasons are obvious.
Sources said in the absence of a strong president the Ministers and other public representatives from the party can have a monopoly as they will not be under a scanner from the Party leadership and in case a strong man is inducted to the post he can make the Ministers and other public representatives of the Party responsible to all omissions and commissions.
This will not be liked by the Party Ministers and Legislators and they all in one voice are pleading for appointment of a weak leader as Party chief so that no one will be able to guard their activities and put fingers in case any wrong is done that can tarnish the Party's image in future, sources said.
This lobby is working over night, they are lobbying strongly and have contacted every one in the national leadership who means to them. This strong lobbying by the Ministers has put a lid over the appointment of new party chief and made Party High Command undecided.
