Mantri angry over sealing of his mall in Srinagar, gives ultimatum to PDP | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Dec 16: A separatist-turned-Minister, whose family owned shopping complex here has been recently sealed for not having constructed parking in the basement, is understood to have given an ultimatum to the State Government "to set the records straight" or that he would expose the "dirty under belly of the ruling coalition." The Minister, is understood have to picked the issue with some senior BJP leaders in New Delhi, that the State Government resorted to "pick and choose" in the sealing of the "selective" commercial complexes in Srinagar. He has asked the Government to pick up the matter at the next Cabinet meeting. The Minister, whose family owned commercial complex is in the name of his two sons, has conveyed to the BJP that some PDP Ministers played a "dirty role" in getting his shopping complex sealed at Sanat Nagar only out of "political vendetta". The separatist-turned-mainstream leader believes that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation officials worked at the behest of some PDP Ministers in hurriedly getting his commercial complex sealed without giving him breather as many others were given and their building were not sealed. Insiders said he has conveyed to the BJP that the commercial complexes owned by the family of PDP Ministers remained untouched in the sealing drive as their name was even not mentioned in the list for the sealing. The Minister was shocked to learn that "there is no mention of the PDP Minister's family owned commercial complex on the banks of river Jhelum in Sheikh Bagh area for sealing when it too has come up illegally and doesn't have any parking." The Minister told New Delhi that even ministries held by BJP were under the influence of PDP in Kashmir. Sources said it has been conveyed to Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh who is also the Housing Minister that many commercial complexes owned by PDP workers, which have come up or are under construction were tactfully spared "because the SMC is virtually in the hands of a coterie of PDP Ministers, who are ruining Srinagar for personal interests." The Minister, is understood to have given ultimatum to the BJP to decide the fate of his shopping complex and that matter be picked up at the Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on December 18 in Jammu. "He (Minister) looks at the complex as this dream venture which he has constructed out of hard earned money. He won't let it be victim of political vendetta at any cost," said a source privy to the development. Sources said the BJP leadership in New Delhi has sought a "tangible response" to the issue from its State chapter, which is the main ally to the PDP led Government. Pertinently, this Minister, whose party is partner in the coalition, has been having strained relations with the PDP, since day one of the formation of the alliance. His name was even reportedly dropped from the initial list of Ministers who were scheduled to take oath on March 1, 2015. Finally, it is believed to be on the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that his name was added to the list at the eleventh hour and he could participate in the swearing in ceremony. "Since then PDP many times reportedly spewed venom against him but he has been preferring silence in the interest of smooth functioning of the Government," said a source privy to the Minister. Despite repeated attempts the Minister could not be contacted for comments. |
